There is something understated about earthy tones, browns and nude. Neutral colors bring out your facial features, without commanding too much attention to the rest of your look. The natural browns seem to soften imperfections, dampen blemishes and focus your gaze to the lips and eyes.
As we enter the more somber rainy season months, I’m finding myself returning to more subdued hues of different nudes. I am especially loving the matte lip at the moment, which is so elegant and chic (i.e. Bobbi Brown’s Art Stick in Nude Brown – super fave lippie of the moment). Neutral colors can also be worn during the day or night and seem to complete your entire look, beautifully bringing together all the pieces of your outfit and face.
Just remember to find a shade lipstick that is versatile and complements the undertone colors of your skin. For the eyes, don’t be afraid to line with lower eyelid with a bit of the same brown eye shadow for a soft smokey-look (see pictured). Be sure to also blend the eye shadow in the upper and lower eyes to blur lines for a more natural eye.
