     I asked guest beauty contributor Michelle Paloma what her favorite beauty supplements are. 

     

    Her pick? Malunggay or otherwise known as moringa in other countries. 

     

    While few research has been done on the plant, there is a newfound interest in the benefits of malunggay and what it can do for your skin.

     

    Who knew this wild weed that grows in abundance in the Philippines, in your backyard and neighboring vacant lots, would be so good for your skin and beauty health?

    In a world obsessed with beauty and health, there are so many choices. Can we achieve both beauty and health? And how to do we know if it is really effective? I personally have found something that I love and can highly recommend: malunggay. A vegetable that I take in supplement form and is my daily multi-vitamin. It is high in nutritional value, but also keeps my skin healthy and radiant. And I do believe that beautiful skin starts with a healthy system.

     

     

    My doctor first introduced me to malunggay. I was asking him what are the best supplements he can recommend for health? There were two that he mentioned and one of them was Malunggay. I started doing my own research and decided to give it a try.

    Here are some reasons why I swear by it. There are much more benefits than this, but these are my top :)

     

    • Anti- cancer. Anti- tumor. Antibacterial. Anti- inflammatory. Anti-fungal.
    • Control blood pressure
    • Control blood sugar levels (for my sweet-tooth lovers out thereJ)
    • It is a vegetable. There is no chance of taking too much
    • All natural. There are no side effects
    • Contains an array of natural vitamins, minerals and amino acids with some including:

     

                -2x more protein that milk
                -3x more potassium than bananas
                -4x more vitamin A than carrots
                -7x more vitamin C than oranges
                -3x more iron that spinach. Used to treat anemia.
                -Also contains vitamin E, Zinc, Magnesium
                - You are not restricted in how you consume it, it can be enjoyed with food, tea or pill form.

     

     

     

    Malunggay can also help restore the skin. It is very high in antioxidants. Antioxidants help rid the cells of free radicals, thus aiding anti-aging. With all its nutrients, it can help to relieve irritated and reddened skin. Also the sulphur in malunggay is the key ingredient to collagen, which will help the skin's elasticity in staying firm.

    Cancers thrive in very acidic environments, along with inflammation. With malunggay’s anti-inflammatory properties, you can be rest assured knowing you are taking the right steps in taking care of your health.

     

    Malunggay has changed my life for the better and I will never stop taking it. It has strengthened my immune system and ever since I started taking it, I rarely get sick and it continues to keep my skin smooth and healthy.
