The hustle and bustle of Metro Manila can be exciting. But admit it, we all need a break from the urban jungle every now and then. That is exactly what I did over the long weekend in October.
Camarines Sur is a province located in the Bicol Region and is a short 45-minute flight from Manila or, if your more patient than I am, you can also take an overnight bus ride. Within CamSur lies a not so little gem called CWC. Camarines Watersports Complex (CWC) is a wakeboarding mecca known all over the world, and over the long weekend they celebrated their 10th year anniversary.
If any of you know anything about CWC, it’s that they throw the biggest and best parties away from the city, so this was surely not an event they would skimp out on. Also, in honor of their big anniversary they hosted the 2016 WWA Wakepark World Championships.
The competition brought in over 150 international wake boarders who competed over three days. With them, they brought their friends and families resulting in one melting pot of cultures. Once the sun set, the wakeboarding ends and, thus, the parties began. The goal of the weekend was simply for everyone to have a good time, so there was something happening every night: Beer Pong Tournament, grand opening of the new Zeach Bar, Scary movie night in the lake (They played The Shallows and had people swimming around with shark fins) and, of course, a big Halloween party as their final blowout.
As expected, it was a wonderful way to spend the long weekend. The perfect balance of relaxation and fun that keeps me going back to CamSur every opportunity I get.
