Last Saturday, Araneta Coliseum was buzzing with happy squeals and lots good vibes as the Grammy Award winning group, Pentatonix took to the Philippine stage for the second time since 2015.
The a cappella group sang covers of a number of hits like Justin Beiber’s ‘Love Yourself’ and OMI’s ‘Cheerleader’. They also performed Daft Punk and Michael Jackson medleys, as well as a number of their original songs like ‘Water’ and ‘Can’t Sleep Love’. I feel I must give a special mention to one of my favorite parts of the show, Kevin Olusola celloboxing (playing the cello and beatboxing). If you haven’t seen it, listen to a sample here!
Pentatonix were on the tail end of their Asian tour and repeatedly told their fans that Manila was one of their favorite places to perform. Sitting in the audience that night I understood why. Throughout the duration of the concert, fans waved glow sticks and neon balloons, which illuminated the entire venue. They also took it upon themselves to hold up flags with the official PTX colors. The group definitely felt the love that night and, in turn, gave their fans ‘Pentaholics’ a night they will always remember.
