I’m dedicating March as the month of summer preparations… and smoothies. They go hand in hand, am I right? This Cluster corner of mine, Food, will share some of my favorite liquid concoctions that are delicious and healthy as well as 3 reasons in this post -- and the next one -- to drink these particular beverages.
Let’s get started!
1. You are sure to reach your daily allowance of fruits and vegetables. Consuming suggested dietary recommendations can be difficult, especially since most of us don’t have the luxury to prepare 3 meals a day and control what goes in them. Combining a couple of servings into a smoothie will ensure that you meet your body’s nutritional needs.
2. Your digestion will improve. Lessen the chances of constipation, indigestion and bloating by letting your blender ‘chew’ the contents for you. This way, you're easing up the amount of work your digestive system has to do while simultaneously adding more fiber into your body -- which is key for 'movement'.
3. The art of being meal flexible. It’s common to have a smoothie for breakfast, but it wouldn't be fair to limit it to just that. Let’s say you ate heavy in the morning, you can always opt for your drink come lunchtime. After a full day of indulgence -- which can happen! -- it would also be acceptable for dinner if you ask me.
Up first is my usual go-to and favorite. I have yet to come up with another recipe that takes away the title. It has all the ingredients I love: strawberries, cacao, almond butter and maca. If you’re craving something sweet, want an extra tasty breakfast, or thirsting for an afternoon snack, this Strawberry Almond Cacao Smoothie absolutely hits the spot!
