Carmelo Anthony. Derrick Rose. Kristaps Prozingis. Jaokim Noah. Add Brandon Jennings and Courtney Lee and the squad looks pretty impressive on paper.
But paper doesn't win championships, but it could bring you close if it all plays out right. And that's why the New York Knicks are my "sleeper" pick in the Eastern Conference.
Unlike my choice of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the West, the Knicks consists of a high number of veterans who are hungry in the chase for a ring. Playoff experience isn't lacking on this squad, but one big question for many is if Rose can stay healthy for the whole year. It would be great to see the one-time MVP back at the elite level that he's capable of.
What will also be interesting is the role Anthony is this season. Coming off another Olympic gold medal, his leadership will be tested once again. Being able to get all these new faces (along with a new coach) on the same page is no easy task, but has to be done in order to win.
It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. But if it does click, there could be some really special things happening in New York City.
