• Gabe Norwood

Gabe Norwood is a Filipino-American professional basketball player who has dedicated most of his life to the sport. A former National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball player at George Mason University, he was part of a team that made history by making it to the prestigious Final Four. He currently plays for the Rain or Shine Elastopainters in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), where he contributed to the franchise’s two championships in 2012 and 2016.  He is also a seven-time member of the Philippine national basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, including the 2013 roster that ended a thirty-six year drought for the country. Gabe and his teammates brought home a silver medal in the FIBA Asia Championships, allowing the country to qualify once more and be seen on the world stage at the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Growing up with a college football coach as a father, sports has been a key component in the Norwood household for decades. Basketball, football, soccer and more were played, studied and enjoyed under their roof. All of these sports have helped him value hard work, discipline, respect, and teamwork — and live by these guidelines as a professional athlete.

Naturally, sports is synonymous with staying fit. Gabe has learned how to listen to his body and train it in accordance with the rigorous demands of his sport. Fitness is key to his performance, and athlete or not, he believes we should all tap into the full potential of our bodies to promote good health. He is a partner at 360PRO, an athlete’s performance training facility created by 360 Fitness Club where he also logs in extra hours with the guidance of Coach Chappy Callanta.

Basketball grabbed not only his attention but his heart.  Playing his sport has allowed Gabe the opportunity and blessing to reconnect with his Filipino roots, travel the world, and meet the love of his life. Together with his wife Lei, the Norwoods are proud parents to two wonderful sons, Cassius, 5 and Orion, 4. Downtime for him is usually family-centered and faith-driven.

Gabe is not only a basketball fan but is passionate for sports overall. Fitness is his lifestyle, and he looks to share what he goes through everyday and hopefully inspire and motivate men (and women alike) to stay in shape.
