• Jessica Kienle Maxwell

Jessica Kienle Maxwell is a Swiss-Filipino furniture designer based in Manila, Philippines. She was immersed in the world of furniture-making and interior design from a young age, as a result of being raised by furniture designers and manufacturers.

Throughout time, Jessica’s passion for arts and design grew stronger and she knew this would be the industry she would some day excel in. She eventually pursued her studies in interior design at ESAT (Ecole Superieure des Arts et des Techniques) in Paris, France, and completed her course at Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Jessica later moved to San Francisco where she worked for several interior design firms before finally deciding to move back to Manila in September 2012 to help with her family business, Philux.

Philux is a 35-year old furniture manufacturer and retailer, which was founded by her parents Max and Zelda Kienle. The company specializes in solid wood furniture, ranging from classic to contemporary designs.

Jessica currently works full-time as Philux’s head designer and visual merchandiser, where she balances her days working from their workshop and visiting their showrooms across Metro Manila.

Jessica’s six years away from home were her most formative years. They taught her numerous things about herself, life and the direction she saw herself heading. She came home with a new outlook, equipped with a new set of skills, and was ready to take on the challenge of spearheading the research and development department in their company.

Outside of work, Jessica loves to travel. She loves exploring new places and getting c lost in translation. She also loves discovering new cultures through their local cuisines. Wherever she travels to, she always keeps Philux at the back of her mind and takes mental notes or photos of things that inspire her. Often times, these things end up being the inspirations to Philux's new collections.

Inspiration comes from everywhere, and in all kinds of forms. Everyone has their own perspective and unique way of seeing the world. Welcome to Jessica’s point of view, as she shares her stories and finds with all of you.
